Lesson 1 – Organization

This lesson is going to be very brief, because I want to get you scrapbooking as quickly as possible, but before you get started making pages and download elements I want you to have place put them.

Repeat those steps to create a new Scrapbooking folder as well.

You should now have a Pictures and Scrapbooking folder. Right click each folder and choose Create Shortcut. Then drag the new  Short Cut Icon to your desktop. With the Short Cuts on your desktop it will makeall your supplies easy to find.

From here on out all your digital scrapbooking supplies and pages in progress will go in your Scrapbooking folder and all your digital photos and finished digital scrapbooking pages will in you Pictures folder.

We will have many more lessons on organization in the future. This was just to help use stay organized as we get started.

To finish things up I want you to create two folders within your Scrapbooking folder. Again just right click on an empty area within the folder window and select New then Folder. Name one EasyDigital and name the other  Projects in Progress. Now open the EasyDigital folder and create a folder for papers, page templates, alphabets, embellishments, kits, page titles, and other information. Anything downloaded from our site should go in the EasyDigital folder and as we start to create new projects they can can be saved in the Projects in Progress folder.

Downloading Free Trials

The first step to digital scrapbooking is choosing and installing the right software for you. There are three main things to consider when choosing your digital scrapbooking software. The good news is many of the top software brands offer a free trial. I show you links to those later in this article. First I want you to think about what will be important to you as a digital scrapbooker.

  1. How much time and money do have to devote to digital scrapbooking? The more advanced the program, the more it will cost and the longer it will take to learn.
  2. Are you interested in being able to edit, adjust and crop your photos before adding them to your pages? If so you will want a photo editing software, not just a digital scrapbooking software.
  3. How creative do you want to get? Do you truly want to create something of your own or is adding your own pictures and text to already stunning pages good enough. If the later is true a program with ready made pages may be the way to go.

If you already know the answers to these questions check out our review section for the basics of each program. If not, it is time to get your hands dirty. As I said before most top photo editing/digital scrapbooking programs offer free trials. Below are links to the actual downloads and our tutorials to help you with the process.
